ORISSA
The Abhishekagni Sisters of Jesus and Mary work in collaboration with the Missionary Society of St. Thomas the Apostle (MST) in carrying out the apostolic ministries at Namasthe Maria Mission, Podagad, Koraput, in Odisha. With the guidance of Rev. Fr. Joseph Cheriampanatt MST and the approval of His Excellency Bishop Raphael Thattil, the ASJM Mission House was established near Kandhamal, Odisha, on 15 November 2021. The newly constructed ASJM Monastery and compound were blessed on 8 January 2024.
Our Mission
We founded this mission with a desire to share the love of Jesus Christ with people in need. Through prayer, service, and evangelization, we seek to bring hope, spiritual renewal, and the message of God’s love to the communities we serve.
Our Vision
Our special mission is the salvation of souls and the evangelization of the world. We strive to support and encourage missionaries and faithful believers in their calling, helping them grow in their spiritual life and missionary commitment.
Our Ministry
“Evangelizing is in fact the grace and vocation proper to the Church, her deepest identity. She exists in order to evangelize” (EN 14).
The purpose of Namaste Maria Mission is the spreading of the Gospel and Formation of Christian Communities. The ASJM community in Odisha, under the direction of the priest-in-charge of the place, actively engages in the missionary, pastoral and social activities, such as:
- Village visits and outreach programs
- Prayer gatherings and spiritual support for local families
- Preparing for liturgy
- Evangelization and faith formation activities for
- The Youth
- The Catechists
- The religious and those undergoing formation
The sisters conduct village ministry and prayer sessions for local communities during their designated prayer ministry days, totaling approximately 15 days each month.
Our Community
At present, the ASJM community in Odisha consists of four members who are dedicated to prayer, missionary service, and community outreach. Through their commitment to Christ and His Church, they continue to serve the people of Odisha with faith, love, and missionary zeal.
